Choosing who gets it: the audience step
Choose people by filters, by hand or from an imported list, and see who's left out and why.
Updated
Under Who should get it? choose one of three ways:
- Filters: by Stage (New, Lead or Customer; more than one if you like), Last WhatsApp chat (in the last 7, 30 or 90 days, or never), From an import (the people from one finished contact import) and Contact owner. You can then add or remove people by hand.
- Pick by hand: go through your contacts and pick the ones you want.
- Upload a list: import a CSV of names and numbers in Contacts → Import, which checks the numbers and adds new people, then choose that import here.
Phone contacts are people saved in your WhatsApp Business app who have never messaged you. The filters leave them out unless you tick Include my phone contacts; include them only if they agreed to hear from you.
The summary shows how many people will get the message, a few of them, and See and edit the list.
People left out automatically are counted by reason:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| No usable WhatsApp number | No number, or one saved without a country code |
| Number doesn't fit the country code | Saved without a country code, and not a real number with the code you chose |
| Opted out | They asked to stop getting your campaigns |
| Same number as another contact | They get one message, not two |
| US numbers (+1) | Meta doesn't deliver marketing messages to US numbers right now |
Which number is used: the WhatsApp number the person chatted with you from on this number; otherwise a saved number starting with + or 00; otherwise a saved number without a country code, completed with the code you chose (see Numbers saved without a country code).
One campaign reaches at most 10,000 people. The last line shows WhatsApp's own limit for your number, for example "up to 250 new people per 24 hours". A larger campaign isn't refused; it takes several days.
