Importing photos by link

Bring photos in with a spreadsheet import, from image links in your file.

Updated

Photos come in with the rest of a spreadsheet import: map your photo column to Image URL(s). Common headers are recognised, including Shopify's "Image Src", Salla's "product_images" and Arabic headers.

Several photos for one item work in either shape: several links in one cell, separated by new lines, "|" or ";", or extra rows with the same handle (Shopify's shape), which are merged into one item. Only the first 8 links per item are kept, and duplicates are removed.

After you confirm, items are saved at once and their photos download in your browser, ten at a time, with a running count such as "Fetching images… 40 of 213." Any that couldn't be fetched are counted, and each item's Media section shows why.

A link works when it starts with http:// or https://, is publicly reachable without a login, serves a real JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF under 10 MB, and answers within 15 seconds. Links to private or internal network addresses are refused.

A link that fails for a temporary reason is tried up to 3 times. One that fails for good (not found, wrong file type, too large) isn't: fix it in your file and import again, or upload that photo by hand.

If you close the tab before the photos finish, nothing is lost: the catalog page shows a banner with how many are still waiting, and Download them now continues where it stopped. Keep the tab open while it runs.
