When Meta limits or restricts your WhatsApp number

Meta's warnings, blocks and disabling: what each one stops, what Syniria shows, and what to do.

Updated

Meta watches how people respond to every business's WhatsApp messages. When too many people block or report a number's messages, or a business breaks WhatsApp's policies, Meta acts in steps:

  1. A warning. Nothing is blocked yet.
  2. A block on templates for 1 or 3 days. No campaigns and no new conversations; replies still work.
  3. A block on all messages for 5, 7 or 30 days. No replies either.
  4. A lock, which only an appeal lifts.
  5. Disabling the WhatsApp account.

Separately, when people block or report a number's messages, Meta can limit how many messages it may send, with no set end. The number's quality rating shows how people responded over the last 7 days.

What Syniria shows:

  • A campaign pauses as soon as Meta limits the number or blocks new conversations, and its page and your Overview say why. Everyone not yet sent stays in the queue.
  • A warning shows on the Campaigns page for 30 days.
  • A block on replies, a disabled account, or one Meta plans to disable shows a warning on every dashboard page, because your AI and your team can't reply until it ends.
  • Syniria's team is told about each one too.

What to do:

  • See Meta's reason, and what it allows and forbids, in Meta Business Suite under Business Support Home. If you think Meta got it wrong, press Request review there; Meta usually decides within one or two days.
  • Check the number's quality in WhatsApp Manager under Account tools → Phone numbers.
  • Send campaigns only to people who expect them, and keep them useful and personal.

Resuming a paused campaign. Resume first checks with Meta. While Meta still blocks the number, or its quality is Low, Resume explains why and waits. Once the block ends and the quality is Medium or High again, the campaign carries on with the people still waiting, and nobody gets it twice. A campaign never restarts by itself.
